It’s sometimes hard to track down the history of a vintage car.
But that shouldn’t be a problem to determine the vast majority of this 1968 Corvette coupe’s life because it’s been in the current owner’s family since 1982.
But now he’s decided to let a new family enjoy this first-year C3 and is offering it for the asking price of $25,000 on craigslist out of the Kenosha, Wisconsin area, halfway between Milwaukee and Chicago.
The car underwent a “mild” restoration back in 2015 and still has its original numbers-matching 427/390 horsepower V8 engine under the hood. The four-speed manual transmission has been replaced, but the owner retained the original in case you’re interested.
Other work already done to the car include an upgraded radiator and start, along with a new complete factory exhaust from the heads back. He says most of the parts came from Corvette Central, and there are just too many of them to list, though photos of all the work that’s been done are available.
One of the photos shows some body work to the front end underway with primer visible, and the seller notes that it will need a paint job and some attention to the interior and the 427.
Still, it’s hard to beat a chrome bumper C3 like this, so we’re sure someone out there will be interested in finishing up this project Stingray. Could it be your turn to jump into the restoration world?
