Considering you could spend way more than this on just one option for a new Corvette, the asking price of only $5,250 for a whole living and breathing 1991 Corvette convertible seems downright cheap.

And, yes, the seller – who’s offering the car on eBay with pickup only in Costa Mesa, California – says it still runs good, even at this price. According to the listing, the engine starts right up and runs strong, the transmission shifts smoothly through the gears, and the steering is in good shape.

The tires are described as being in good condition all the way around, and the wheels may have some corrosion around the edges but not enough to be a major problem.

Now, admittedly, you’re not going to get a concours example for this much money, but in the listing photos, this Corvette actually looks presentable inside and out.

If you can overlook “a few big scrapes” on the front and rear bumpers, the body “looks good otherwise” and the owner rates the paint a 7 out of 10, calling it “presentable.”‘

He believes the original convertible top will need to be replaced eventually, but says right now it still keeps the elements out.

We were surprised that the red interior still looks this good, with just some wear on the driver seat outer bolster (an easy fix). The dash isn’t cracked, and the center console, armrests, and door panels are decent. You’ll have to get by with the music emanating from under the hood for your entertainment, though, as the radio comes on but doesn’t make any sounds. On the other hand, all the power accessories like the windows, door locks, and mirrors still function, though the AC will need some attention as it doesn’t blow out cold air.

All in all, we can think of worse ways to spend 5,000 bucks. It might not win you a trophy at a car show, but this Corvette still could put a smile on your face.
