It’s hard to argue with the beauty of a 1969 Corvette convertible, even when it’s been sitting for years.
Whether that beauty translates into a willingness to take on the restoration of such a long-ignored car being offered at no reserve on eBay Motors remains to be seen.
Apparently, there are indeed plenty of folks eager to tackle the job as some 33 bids have already been placed, climbing to a high of $6,940 with the auction slated to close Tuesday night.
That project will definitely include a recoat of the paint as the once-gorgeous Fathom Green has seen better days. The body appears to be in decent shape with no visible major cracks or other damage, though one person posted on Barn Finds that the round raised-up spots near the headlights are rivets that have rotted out. He believes that is an indication that the entire front of the frame is damaged and perhaps the rest of the frame might be, too. For what it’s worth, the seller does claim that the car has a “solid frame,” so maybe things aren’t as bad as they might seem.
This vintage Stingray needs a “full restoration,” the seller admits, but he does say that the car was “running when parked” and currently “rolls and steers.”
The soft top is missing, but then again, who wants to leave the top up when you’re driving a car like this? Fortunately, in case you do ever want to drive in the rain, the car does come with the optional hardtop that we think makes for a beautiful side profile.
We’ve seen worse-looking interiors, and if it weren’t for the splits in the seat bottoms, we’d be satisfied while the restoration progressed.
