Barrett-Jackson is making a fall stop in Scottsdale next week for their fall event there. The 4-day sale will run October 10th – 13th. Among the myriad of Corvettes crossing the block in Arizona next weekend, you’ll find a complete set of C4 ZR1’s from 1990 to 1995.
The ZR1 set comes from the Montana collection of Dave Ressler. Those that have watched Barrett-Jackson over the years will recall Ressler for his routine of wearing a sport coat that matched the car he was bidding on. He’s also the one who purchased the first C6 ZR1 as well as the 1953 VIN 003 car. Sadly, Ressler passed in 2017 and now his family is beginning to sell off his extensive collection.
The Fall Scottsdale auction will offer 12 initial cars from the collection. Half of the collection consists of his complete set of C4 ZR1 Corvettes. All of the cars are Bloomington Gold Certified and have 2 or 3-digit miles on the odometers. Each still has their respective window stickers affixed and feature the optional dual roof package. Several still have the delivery plastic still adorning their interiors.
The C4 ZR1 ran from 1990 to 1995. The pricey option package essentially doubled the price of the base car. As soon as it was announced, collectors began lining up and throwing down cash to get their hands on “The King of Hill” Corvette. All ZR1’s were powered by 4 cam, 32 valve 5.7L LT5 engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. 1990 – 1992 cars were rated at 375hp and 1993 – 1995 cars produced 405hp thanks to some internal enhancements. The exotic V8 was designed by Lotus in Europe, built by Mercury Marine Stillwater, Oklahoma, and installed into cars in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Over it’s 6-year run, roughly 6,000 C4 ZR1’s were built.
Here’s a look at each of the low-mile ZR1’s from the Ressler collection.
