[VIDEO] The Most Overlooked Maintenance Item On Our Vehicles is...

Our friend Justin from the HorsePower Obsessed YouTube Channel brings up an interesting point about performing maintenance on our Corvettes including this little-known item that you’re probably overlooking. Justin is talking about the periodic changing of the cabin air filter, something which probably isn’t on many people’s radars.

The cabin air filter is designed to keep dust, pollen, and other airborne contaminants from entering the passenger cabin through the air vents or when using the air conditioner. Wanting to learn more about the service procedure, I downloaded a 2024 Corvette Owner’s Manual. The manual shows us how to do it, but there is nothing within the manual that specifies how often the cabin air filter should be changed. Justin suggests that it done yearly when you change your oil, and as these filters sell for just $10-$15 on Amazon, why wouldn’t you change them more often?

In the video, we see Justin and his friend replace the Cabin Air Filter on both a C7 and C8 Corvette. It’s so easy to do, you could knock it out while at a car show as Justin does here.

  1. I don’t like it when my Chevrolet dealer and my Mazda dealer both try to hit me up for $70 to change the cabin air filter on my 16 Corvette and 20 Mazda6 respectively. I can change it my damn self on my Stingray in 5 minutes and my Mazda in 2 minutes.

  2. In my opinion, the most overlooked item for the C8 is tuning the ECM (Engine Control Module).

Paragon Performance broke GM’s ‘lock’ on the C8 ECM, in 2023.
Part# PP-CB-Tune-01 $550 bolt on tune, (515)-414-8993 1450 NW Gettysburg LN, Waukee, IA.

Buying engine mods for the C8 is ultimately ineffective, since GM’s factory tune limits the potential benefits. “one size fits all” tuning.

Note: I have no financial interest in Paragon Performance.

    Many thanks,
    Ray
