Last year, Rolling Stone named her one of the 200 greatest singers of all time. Now, Corvette enthusiasts are discovering Lana Del Rey is a fan of America’s Sports Car, too.
Rabid fans are well aware the singer often loves meeting her groupies up close, especially when she’s in small towns like Greenville, South Carolina.
When BreAnna Cutler and her fiancé Katie Inscho heard Del Rey was eating Tuesday night at a downtown restaurant named Jianna that overlooks beautiful Falls Park, they jumped in their C8 Corvette and headed there in hopes of meeting the 39-year-old superstar.
“I didn’t want to come off as bothersome, but I also know Lana has spoken in interviews about how she loves going to smaller towns and meeting fans one-on-one, so we decided to make the drive,” Cutler explained in an interview with the Greenville News.
Fortunately Inscho was able to park her Torch Red Stingray right in front of the popular restaurant in what Cutler described as a “meant to be” moment. An hour later, Del Rey waved to fans from the balcony, then met with many of them as she was leaving the eatery.
“We gave her time with others and then Katie asked her if she would sign her Corvette (something we joked about on the way to Greenville) and she replied, ‘I do love a red Corvette!'” Cutler said. “We were both so excited in the moment, and we got the signature covered and sealed by Extreme Auto Spa Colors of Greenville today. They actually did it for free because they saw the video online!”
The big moment was even captured on video as a beaming Del Rey leans over to sign the rear bumper just above the right taillight, Inscho excitedly offering to take her for a ride or even let the singer drive the car. A photo shows the two smiling and pointing at Del Rey’s freshly written autograph just below the high wing spoiler.

Ironically, Cutler’s favorite song by Del Rey is “Video Games,” which features lyrics about a fast car, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that she took a minute to sign a speedy Corvette.
“It’s just a beautiful and relatable song about being comfortable and at home with someone you love,” Cutler explained of “Video Games.” After her (Del Rey) signing the Corvette, I feel like, ‘Swinging in the backyard, pull up in your fast car, whistling my name’ takes on a really special meaning.”
In fact, she and Inscho plan to have the song played during their first dance after their wedding in November.
Not everyone was so lucky about meeting the Grammy-nominated singer, though, as some Greenville fans expressed sadness on social media about missing out while she was dining at the restaurant.
“Lana Del Rey was in Greenville last night, casually strolling downtown. … Excuse me while I go cry,” one fan said in a Facebook post.
Another wrote: “Ana and I may just cry the rest our lives over missing Lana Del Rey being in downtown Greenville while we were out of town. We are quite literally falling to pieces … filled with summertime sadness.”

I did not know that 70,000 people counted as a small town. It is the 511th largest city in the nation. Moreover, News & World Report listed it as the 4th best major city in the US.
Why does this entire situation bother me? Guess I’m getting old.
Yawn, ya who cares. Not even sure why I opened this up.
Who the hell is Lana Del Rey? Never heard of her. I’ve traveled through Greenville, SC a few times. It is a small city, but it’s also an up and coming city that’s home to some major companies.
@Sid: What bothers me is the way society is accepting women that have a wife and men that have a husband. I’m old too, good thing I won’t be around when it really gets bad.
Based on the “sad” reactions, it sounds like there are generations of Americans with misplaced priorities.
