[VIDEO] Take a Lap Around the Detroit Street Course in the 2024 Corvette E-Ray Pace Car

Corvette Racing and the new Z06 GT3.R will be racing for the first time on the streets of downtown Detroit on Saturday at 3pm ET. As race circuits go, this one is the shortest of all races for 2024 with the circuit having nine corners and a distance of 1.654 miles. There’s only a few places for passing, and so qualifying at the front of the 11-car GTD-Pro field will be extremely important.

It’s been a while since the Corvettes have raced at Detroit and then it was on Belle Isle. To get ready for the race, drivers have been relying on the simulator to learn the track and to see how the Corvettes handle on the course. The drivers have said the track is pretty bumpy and the many of the turns will be done at extremely low speeds.

Pacing the IMSA field will be the 2024 Corvette E-Ray, still dressed in its Indy 500 Pace Car livery except for the door graphics which have been changed over for the IndyCar Detroit Grand Prix which takes place on Sunday.

The Chevrolet Detroit Sports Car Classic will start at 3:10 PM ET and the race will be broadcast live on the USA Network and streamed on the Peacock app.
