Zora used to preach all day about the importance of weight-savings on the race track.

He probably wouldn’t be surprised about the outcome of this recent competition between a 2004 Corvette Z06 and a 2004 Honda S2000 at Chuckwalla Raceway in Desert Center, California.

Driver Battles brings us this contest on their YouTube channel, and let’s get a few preliminaries out of the way before sharing the ultimate victor.

The Corvette retains a stock 405-horsepower LS6 engine under its custom hood but does boast of a laundry list of upgrades like OS Giken clutch, Trackspec sway bars, Riaction GP-1 coilovers, Trackspec SC5R wheels 18×11″ +54 Square, Nitto NT01 315/30/ZR18 tires, Gloc R12 front brakes, Gloc R10 rear brakes, Trackspec hood vents, Bride seat, Momo steering wheel, and MGW short shifter.

The Honda, meanwhile, likewise has its stock 2-liter F20C engine, but it’s been tuned. That means it should perform even better than the stock motor that has become known for its exceptional power output of about two horsepower per cubic inch, said to be the highest of any mass production, naturally aspirated engined car until 2010.

This particular car also has a few upgrades, like AEM Infinity ECU, OS Giken LSD 4.44 gear, Rockstar roll bar, JR2 RS Two coilovers, G-Loc brake pads, Titan7 wheels 17×10″, Bride seat, and 255/40/ZR17 Nittos.

Other factors in this particular matchup? The Honda driver has much more experience on this track and will be competing in a car that weighs about 500 pounds less than the Corvette, whose driver will be making his second run on this track and hopes the speed and brute power of his girlfriend’s Z06 will be enough to win.

The premise behind “Driver Battles” is that the drivers have all day to get their fastest time, and in this particular case, the host says it was “literally the closest times we’ve ever had on any episode.”

Who do you think took the win by less than 1/10th of a second? Watch the video to find out.
