[VIDEO] C8 Corvette Z06 Heads to the MotorWeek Test Track

John Davis and crew of MotorWeek has been reviewing cars since the early 1980s, but they’ve never had a Corvette like the all new C8 Z06! MotorWeek finally got their hands on one and now the TV show known for its road tests and reviews has put America’s newest supercar to the test on the weekly motoring show. For this review, Chevrolet sent their best – a Z06 Corvette Coupe in Hypersonic Gray with the Z07 Performance Package, visible Carbon Fiber wheels, and Brembo Carbon Ceramic brakes.

MotorWeek did this track testing at Roebling Road Raceway located outside of Savannah, GA. The track is a 2.02 road racing course with nine turns and long front straight that allows the Z06 to really stretch its legs coming out of a long right-hand sweeper on turns 8-9. The C8Z was able to hit a top speed of 160 mph, and Davis remarks “With the Hellcats no longer rolling off the assembly line, this is easily our new favorite V8.”

As this is a performance test, MotorWeek tests the Z06’s new programmable launch control which allows you dial in your preferred RPM for launching. They found their sweet spot at 4,500 RPM and with the temperatures hovering at 40 degrees, the Z06 was able to pound out a 0-60 mph sprint in 2.6 seconds, and their quarter mile time of 10.7 seconds at 130-mph was nearly equal to the factory performance stats.

Call us home teamers all you want, but America’s only exotic does it yet again, not only is it the best Corvette ever, but it is also easily one of the greatest American cars of all time, arriving at a particularly poignant time culturally as we mourn the potential loss of internal combustion engines altogether.
