Back in the day, knowing a car’s invoice price was pretty helpful information when it came time to squeeze the best deal out of your dealer.

It still is for some cars, but not necessarily for the ultra-hot (but finally cooling) C8 Corvettes. Five years into their run, these mid-engine cars are still being sold at MSRP and higher in most cases – and sometimes way higher in the cases of the Z06 and E-Ray.

We happened across a new story by Road & Track, which took on the big challenge of gathering all the MSRP and current invoice prices for a wide range of sports cars – everything from the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio to the Volkswagen Golf R. It’s definitely worth a look.

In between A and V were some GM cars of likely interest to the folks perusing this blog, including the 2024 Corvette Stingray, Z06, and E-Ray. We had never personally seen what the dealers are actually charged for these high-performance Chevys and thought the numbers might be of interest to you, even though it appears that the big discounts that were offered near the end of C7 production will never appear for the ever-popular C8. These days, all you really need to know is the final MSRP, and that’s what you’ll be lucky to pay.

Here’s what Road & Track discovered for the latest versions of the Corvette:

Corvette Stingray

Current Invoice: $65,487.20
MSRP: $69,995.00
Destination: $1,695
Initial Invoice: $63,519.20
Initial MSRP: $67,895.00

Corvette Z06

Current Invoice: $107,206.40
MSRP: $114,395.00
Destination: $1,695
Initial Invoice: $105,238.40
Initial MSRP: $112,295.00

Corvette E-Ray

Current Invoice: $99,671.60
MSRP: $106,595.00
Destination: $1,695
Initial Invoice: $97,703.60
Initial MSRP: $104,495.00

Some of you may also be interested in such pricing for Cadillac’s 2024 high-performance models, too, so here goes:

CT4-V Blackwing

Current Invoice: $59,815.25
MSRP: $62,890.00
Destination: $1,395
Initial Invoice: $59,815.25
Initial MSRP: $62,890.00

CT5-V Blackwing

Current Invoice: $92,315.25
MSRP: $96,990.00
Destination: $1,395
Initial Invoice: $92,315.25
Initial MSRP: $96,990.00

  1. Why is this news? Invoice pricing has been visible for a great while. Even then, the holdbacks and even categories of invoice pricing (supplier price, military, etc) make the exact price to the dealer on the vehicle you end up buying elusive.

  2. Show me an actual copy of a GM Dealer Vehicle Invoice, and I will breakdown the True Cost a GM dealership is paying for a GM vehicle.

    GM Vehicle Type M.S.R.P. > $66,666.66
    Employee > $63,333.33

    Pay 310 Line > $55.555.55
    minus HoldBack > $5,5555.55
    minus Advertising > $555.55
    minus Expenses > $555.55
