[VIDEO] There's a Car Graveyard Full of C3 Corvettes in Japan

If you need parts for a vintage C3 Corvette and you happen to live in Japan, you might want to check out this abandoned junkyard in Japan.

Well, we’re not really sure any of the parts would be usable, but it sure makes for an interesting YouTube video from the guys at the Sammit YouTube channel.

The video raises more questions than answers as we never knew there were so many Corvettes in Japan in the first place, let alone that some of them would wind up in what can be only be described as a graveyard for a variety of makes of cars. As the years have passed, residents have apparently begun to use the site as an easy and free place to get rid of their unwanted tires, wheels, assorted junk like old refrigerators and TVs, a kid’s bike, a toilet, and even a Jet-Ski and a construction hardhat or two.

Sammit had first spotted the site, located in the rice fields, when it was overgrown with bamboo vegetation, but now that the season has changed, he’s able to slowly make his way through, checking out the abandoned cars stacked atop one another in some cases. There is even one C3 partially falling through the roof of an old rusty metal-framed structure, though he and his young friend do decide to risk their lives and walk underneath and discover what appears to be an old Z-car that looks like it belongs in a horror film – with the guts of its inline-six engine exposed for all the world to see.

Before long, it appears that these forgotten vehicles will be completely swallowed up by the ravages of time, but luckily the world had one last peek at these once-glorious cars, thanks to Sammit’s 27-minute video. He might want to wear some gloves and work boots next time he visits, though.

  1. This video makes me cry, not only for the abandoned cars but for the pollution of natural lands.

  2. Lots of US service members in Japan. We have heavily influenced each other’s cultures. They love our cars, we love theirs. Makes sense to me
