Corvettes for Sale: Custom 1963 Corvette Offered on Craigslist

This isn’t your typical 1963 Corvette convertible for sure.

This baby blue Sting Ray (with contrasting white top) is up for sale on craigslist out of the Spring Hill, Florida area with an asking price of just $45,500 or he’ll even consider trading it for buildable property.

While the car won’t suit the tastes of some enthusiasts, it does have an interesting backstory.

According to the listing, this Sting Ray has been in the same family for more than 50 years, with the current owner apparently inheriting it from his father when he passed away last year.

He says he doesn’t drive the car and wants someone to enjoy it.

The ad doesn’t offer many details, but photos show the car has undergone some pretty major modifications, not the least of which is its C4-style clamshell hood that offers easy access to the small-block engine connected to a black side exhaust system. Other mods include what looks like a chopped windshield, ’67-style side vents, and a very unique rear end with dune-buggy-like rectangular brake lights below the fiberglass. The stock chrome bumpers have also been axed.

Inside, we only get a fleeting glimpse, but the dash and black seats appear to be stock. The door panels, however, are custom with built-in speakers.

Tell us how you feel about this one-of-a-kind Sting Ray. Personally, we’d like to know more about the why and how of these mods, and we might appreciate them a little more.

  1. This abomination is just totally wrong. Jacked up, Bobbed, chopped, License plate hanging below what looks like a recess for it. 1971 saw a lot of LSD and Shrooms.

  2. The third gen Nove taillights really do it for me, I wonder if he’ll accept a higher than asking offer, what a mess.

  3. As the article suggest… this one is definitely NOT for gonna win any beauty contests…
I had to grin… then smile broadly …and eventually laugh out loud while reading the entertaining comments (although all negative). I have to admit I agree with them. But I did enjoy the laughs😂🤣.

  4. You know, there are some things that you see, and you wish that you could “unsee” it.
This whole thing is just WRONG !!! The best one one word to describe it “sacrilege ” If
you want to play car customizer, Use an old Mustang, Dodge or Javelin. It’s right in there
with those 4-door Limo Corvettes, usually built on a C3 chassis. along with the one in our
local area, that is a jacked up off road Corvette…it has a cheesy looking mock up of a C3 body and it sits about 2 feet off the ground,

  5. WTF? This ugly POS looks like it has a lift kit on it and every mod that was done to it looks like crap. I’m sure it will stay in the family for another 50 years as no one would ever buy it.
