[VIDEO] Is the Corvette a Supercar?

One of the interesting aspects of owning a mass-produced sports car is that we sometimes don’t quite know where we fit in when it comes to the world of supercars. Some of our high performance Corvettes like the C7 ZR1 and the C8 Z06 can seriously punch above their weight, but because they are sold for hundreds of thousands less than similar competitors, it’s easy to exclude them from being a “true” supercar.

Our friend Lyle from the C&S Corvettes YouTube channel tackles the question, and he does a pretty good job of classifying what attributes need to be met to be classified a supercar. The short answer is yes, Corvette has had several supercars in its lineup both previously, and currently with the C8 Z06. The future C8s like the ZR1 and the ZORA will also most likely fall into the “Supercar” category as well.

  1. I think there’s two categories of supercars. Supercar, and exotic supercar, with exotic denoting exclusivity and/or limited production.

  2. Corvettes have always been exotic super cars, how do they put Porsche in that category? I think Porsche is a souped up bettle. Ferrari super car, Lamborghini super car,Corvette super car, Mazerrati super car, Alpha Romeo super car.These are super cars .
