[VIDEO] This Walk Around of Callaway Speedster #002 Will be the Best 10 Minutes of Your Day

The sudden loss of Reeves Callaway last year turned the Corvette world on its ear. No one single tuner influenced Corvette more than Callaway. When the first RPO B2K Corvette rolled out of Bowling Green and headed off to Old Lyme, CT the Corvette landscape was changed forever, and legend of the Callaway Corvette was here to stay.

At the end of the first RPO B2K run in 1991, Callaway built 10 wild Speedsters. Their cut down windshields, slick aerobodies, and flashy colors suddenly created a Corvette on par with the European exotics.

Callaway Speedster #002

CuratedTV brings us this 10+ minute video of Callaway Speedster #002. Over the course of the video we get a great overview of the Speedster program as well as a complete history of this particular car. If you feel like you’ve seen this car before, that’s because it was featured in BF Goodrich ads of the day and graced the pages of basically every car magazine out there.

Over the course of the video we get to see all corners of the car. Obviously the Candy Fuschia paint and silver leather interior make this car stand out among its peers. From there he walks through the window sticker and breaks down all the unique options. For example, that custom silver leather interior was a $15,000 upgrade. The spicy Candy Fuschia paint was another $7,500. The coilover suspension was $2,900 and the 500hp engine package was another $6,500. Add all that and some other items up and you’ve got a $167,000 super car in 1991.

Callaway Speedster #002

This Speedster still resides with its original owner who has collected all of the various publications in which his car has been featured. What stands out most though, is how good this car still looks today. It’s timeless design and bold colors could almost fit right in with any of today’s hypercars.

Enough of me typing. Block off the next 10 minutes and spend some time with a fantastic Callaway Corvette.

  1. Happy New Year to all of you fellow Corvette Fanatics –
In my professional Design Opinion, this almost too beautiful to describe Callaway Speedster Corvette is the top level champion of all aftermarket or factory styled Corvettes ever designed and built in the past 70 years. The Speedster is a perfect automobile!

The five real Corvette Grand Sport race cars of the Zora era from LeMans have come in just second for now.

Mr. Reeves Callaway had this specific talent to take a Corvette from Chevrolet to what a true sports car everyone that loves Corvettes wishes and dreams of owning and driving.

I saw one of these Callaways at the Museum during an event back in the late 1990’s and the sheer performance styling does look exactly like the Corvette is doing 300 mph on the grass.

Of all the past and current Callaway special editions of our beloved Corvettes that Reeves and now his team are creating, this Speedster will remain the King.

This video was very nice and amazing to watch, so please share it it with the young ones.
God Bless Mr. Reeves Callaway and a million sincere Thank You Sir’s for his work.
    Thanks for listening!
    J.T.
