[VIDEO] Your Car is On Fire! C8 Corvette Z06 Blows Engine During Thanksgiving Day Canyon Run


A C8 Corvette Z06 was participating in a Thanksgiving Day canyon run with some other drivers and it really looked like a great day to have the car out! Blue skies, curvy roads, and 670-hp at your fingertips would make this a day to remember. Unfortunately, it would be for all the wrong reasons.

This dashcam video was captured by one of the drivers following the Amplify Orange Z06 and at around 2:16 you see a puff of smoke come front under the car. Within another 20 seconds, the line of cars slow for a stop sign and you can start to see the Z06 leaving an oil trail behind it.

“Your car is on fire,” yells the driver following the Z06, who has probably figured out that something is very wrong with his car. Our dash cam guy then passes the Z06 and continues on the way. We saw a couple of flashes right after the engine blew, but don’t see any visible flames when rewatching it. That could be due to the flames being small and not captured by the dashcam.


It’s times like this that your glad you have the full warranty. However, this car does appear to be wearing a Corvette Mike license plate frame, so let’s hope the first owner kept it longer than six months!

  3. A. C8 blew an engine and burned on the front straight at Thompson CT.
    The speculation was no only was the car under warentee but would the fire damage be covered.

  4. Every now and and then after getting over the weird body lines I have the thought of buying a new C8. However after reading stories like this I just pass.

  7. Very similar to the Porsche malaise era (1999-2008) with the IMS.
    If GM choses to negate there is something wrong, like Porsche did for so long, the brand is going to be heavily hurt.
    But maybe Chevrolet comes up with a Cayenne doppleganger to save the brand and history repeats itself. And the market floods with $20k C8 Z06’s 🙂

  9. Looks like it’s got a DEALER plate.. more than likely, a dealer employee took it for a drive and decided to drive it like he STOLE it..

  10. They didn’t make a corvette after C3 , nothing but bricks until C8. I got my C8 in 2020 and it has over 30k and drive it almost everyday so that means I drive it over a 100 mph . Undefeated in Orlando speed world even a C7 Z06 . 11 flat at 122 with full tank, a/c and radio best vett made ever. I ordered and got exactly what I ordered. As for as looks I still can’t leave Publix for 20 minutes a real sports car .
