Corvettes for Sale: Driver-Quality 1959 Corvette Offered for $52K on Craigslist

If you’re looking for a bargain C1, you might want to book a flight to Florida to check out this beautiful blue 1959 Corvette.

Described as being “nice driver’s quality,” this 1959 Corvette is being offered on craigslist out of the St. Petersburg area for a very reasonable $52,500 and the owner even says he’ll entertain the best offer.

The car isn’t perfect, but does seem to have a lot going for it – like the matching numbers drivetrain with a 283 four-barrel V8 engine and four-speed manual transmission.

The red interior was refurbished about three years ago and still looks great in the photos. The car was originally Roman Red but was changed over to Frost Blue, providing a nice contrast with those new red seats and dash.

Apparently, the car is one of 1,695 that were outfitted with a hardtop but no soft top. We’re not sure why anyone wouldn’t want the flexibility of a ragtop but it could possibly be to allow room for a larger fuel tank. In fact, if someone ordered RPO 1625 (a 24-gallon fuel tank), they were required to eliminate the soft top to make way for the bigger tank.

The seller says the car runs, drives, and shifts “great,” all the gauges, switches, and lights are functional, and the chrome and trim are in good shape, too.

Only 9,670 Corvettes were built in 1959, which looked similar to the’58s except for the lack of simulated hood louvers and twin chrome trunk spears. The ’59 continued the quad headlights that had debuted a year earlier, and here’s a little trivia fact for you. The now ubiquitous black interior made its debut in a Corvette for the first time in ’59.
