[VIDEO] On-Track Action with the Turbocharged C8 Corvette ZR1 at the Nurburgring

We got a friend who has been staking out the Nurburgring this week as the Corvette engineers are in town and he and came up with some great video footage of the new American Supercar on the famous German track.

While the previous public video just featured the car in a couple of flybys, this video clocks in at 4:27 and shows the C8 Corvette ZR1 prototypes with both the high wing and the Z06 wing running the course.

The first few minutes of the video show the ZR1 on track and it’s really pushing hard through several corners in various parts of the circuit. Afterwards, we see a couple of the ZR1 prototypes leaving Chevrolet’s secret lair before heading to the track. The last part of the video features the ZR1s on the track, but they are not really pushing as hard as they were in the beginning.

With all that we have learned this week with seeing the upcoming ZR1 on the track, the biggest news for us appears to be confirmation that the car is turbocharged and not equipped with the E-Ray’s AWD system. Looks like we’ll be waiting on the 1,000+ horsepower ZORA to give us the ultimate C8 Corvette!

We’ve also asked our friend to watch that big wing Corvette ZR1 very closely to see if there is any active aero on the car. In response, he says “I’m pretty sure that the rear spoiler can’t move. He is fixed on the car and I have never seen any movement there.”

There has been lots of speculation on where pricing for the Corvette ZR1 will fall and honestly, we don’t have clue as to any real numbers but if we had to guess, I would put the starting dollar figure somewhere in $130s.
