[VIDEO] Watch a 2019 Corvette ZR1 Reach 161 MPH in a Half Mile Runway Test

With the way that the market has been treating the 2019 Corvette ZR1 lately, I’ve been worried that videos like this from the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds would soon go by the wayside. Luckily, there is a contingent of ZR1 owners out there who care about driving the C7 Supercar more than watching it go stale in a garage somewhere because of record valuations.

We all know the 2019 ZR1 was a monster off and on the track, but sometimes a refresher is needed. It was the only front-engine C7 Corvette to receive the supercharged LT5 V8 which makes 755 horsepower and 715 lb-ft of torque. Officially, the 2019 ZR1 was capable of running 0-60 mph in 3 seconds and the quarter mile in 10.6 seconds at 134 mph.

This matte black 2019 Corvette ZR1 was participating in some “straightline aerodynamic testing” at the Johhny Bohmer Proving Grounds, which is the 3.22-mile runway at the Kennedy Space Center where the Space Shuttle used to land. In this video, they captured the low-wing ZR1 with an 8-speed automatic running a half mile test with a speed of 161.830 mph when it crossed the finish line.

If you think that was fast, this same 2019 Corvette ZR1 also ran the full 2.7 miles of the runway to attain a top speed of 207 mph. That wasn’t fastest we’ve seen at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds. Click here to watch a Long Beach Red 2019 Corvette ZR1 hit 214 mph on the same track.
