[VIDEO] C8 Corvette Stingray with Z51 Runs Top Speed of 191.7 MPH on the Space Shuttle's Runway

When the C8 Corvette Stingray first hit the scene in 2019, many were intrigued with what the the top speed of the new mid-engine Corvette would be. Lucky for us, Chevy answered that question showing a 2020 Corvette Stingray doing a top speed run in Germany where the car hit 194 MPH. Not to shabby for a sports car that at the time cost under $60,000.

Chevrolet further clarified the C8 Stingray’s top speed by saying that 194 MPH was run with a non-Z51 C8 and that the Z51 version would run a bit slower due to the aerodynamics on the Z51 Performance Package.

Well, records were meant to be broken and today we came across this Z51 Corvette Stingray doing a top speed run on the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds on Kennedy Space Center’s 3-mile Space Shuttle runway. Unlike traditional Z51 cars with the regular wing spoiler, this Stingray was running the new low-profile spoiler, so drag should be less. Just how fast can this Z51 Corvette go in 2.7 miles? The GPS showed 191.7 MPH and to us, it looks like the Stingray’s speed was still creeping higher as he passed the final flags at the end of the runway and was forced to slow down.
