[VIDEO] Canadian Police Arrest C8 Corvette Driver After He Posted Street Race to Social Media

The price of being “a star” these days is getting more expensive, at least in Canada.

A 22-year-old Canadian man posted a video on social media last month, allegedly showing him behind the wheel of his C8 Corvette Stingray as he raced a motorcycle down a street in Ontario.

Unfortunately for him, the video went viral and while it may have turned him into a fleeting star, it also captured the attention of Peel Regional Police, who were eventually able to track down the driver.

On June 30, Simranjit Singh of Brampton, Ontario was arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, racing a motor vehicle, and performing a stunt in a vehicle, among other offenses.

While he awaits a court appearance in August, Singh has been released on conditions but lost his license and his 2022 Corvette has been impounded.

The incident allegedly began when the Corvette driver was stopped at a light beside a green motorcycle near Steeles Avenue East and Airport Road before the two vehicles began racing. The cycle pulls ahead at first but the C8 passes a slower SUV on the right and then overtakes the cyclist, waving to him just as the video ends.

Police say Singh was going 226 kmh (140 mph) in an 80 kmh (50 mph) zone. As for the cyclist, authorities have been unable to identify the driver and ask anyone with information to contact Peel police or reach out to Crime Stoppers anonymously.
