A Canadian man caught speeding along the Coquihalla Highway in British Columbia at more than 150 mph last year in his Blade Silver C7 Corvette Z06 says he now regrets his actions after he had received the maximum fine in court Tuesday.

Winston Teck Seng Khng, 52, of Lower Mainland, British Columbia pleaded guilty to excessive speeding “in his new dream car” and was ordered to pay a $2,000 fine.

“I just want to say sorry for my actions,” Khng said in court.

Khng’s attorney, Megan Chambers, says he blames the speeding on an “isolated incident of bad judgment,” explaining that he “had just bought his new dream car and hadn’t had a chance to try it out.”

Now, Khng realizes driving the Z06 at double the speed limit on the highway located in the Vancouver area “was not an appropriate time or place and (he) has booked track sessions for using his dream car,” his attorney added.

At the time of the incident, which occurred on the Coquihalla, a major road connecting the southern Trans-Canada route with the northern Trans-Canada/Yellowhead route in western Canada, Khng’s Corvette was impounded. Now, his lawyer says he is considering selling the Corvette to help pay for his daughter’s university tuition.

The incident dates back to April 17, 2021 when a Mountie running radar in the Brody area, south of Merritt, pegged Khng as he flew around a corner in his Corvette at 243 km/h (or 151 mph), more than double the posted speed limit of 120 km/h (or 68 mph).

Khng is apparently lucky to get away with just paying a fine. A conviction for careless driving could have taken his license away, a requirement for his job with a Lower Mainland rubbish removal company. His lawyer pointed out that on that job, he’s driven more than 311,000 miles without incident.

  1. Damn it, bummer. Have to be very careful where and when you put the hammer down, especially if you plan on holding it down for awhile lol. These cars are made to do this just have to be careful. It is a friggen blast though. $200 hurts, but how many of us ever get to hit speeds like that in ours????? How the hell did the Cop even catch him??

  2. Be careful my American friends 95% of CDN cops are PRICK”S. They make any ware from $100’00 to $150.000 and are just heartless and act jealous because you have a sharp car plus it puts a big feather in their cap (bragging rights) that they caught a big fish!!
