Corvettes for Sale: Bloomington Gold 1970 Corvette Survivor on Craigslist

It’s easy to hire somebody to restore a ragged-out Corvette.

It’s not so easy to find a car that doesn’t NEED to be restored 53 years after leaving the factory!

That’s the case with this beautiful Mulsanne Blue 1970 Stingray T-top coupe currently being offered on craigslist in Paw Paw, Illinois for $38,500.

This car’s history can be traced back to the original owner, who then sold it to his cousin, who then sold it to the current owner in 2010.

That year, the car picked up a prestigious Bloomington Gold Survivor award, and the Certificate of Historic Preservation sums it up nicely:

“The MAJORITY of this automobile’s historic characteristics appear to have been preserved for over two decades. It has survived the perils, abuse, fads and restorations common to most Corvettes. In the spirit of historic preservation, it would not be in the best interest of Corvette heritage to significantly improve or restore this automobile. Therefore, the National Corvette Survivor Board believes it is in the best interest of historic research to preserve this automobile in its present state as a model for Corvette restoration.”

The whole car presents beautifully 53 years after leaving the St. Louis factory, at least in the photos provided with the listing, especially the black vinyl interior. (A new owner might want to ask if the seats have been replaced along the way as the car now has 101,000 miles.)

About the only nit we can find to pick is the installation of an aftermarket radio, which while we can appreciate the improved utility always ruins the look of ANY Corvette, at least in our opinion. It shouldn’t be hard to rectify that problem, however, if the new owner feels the same way.

Needless to say, the original drivetrain is in place, with a numbers-matching 350/300 horsepower V8 and a three-speed automatic transmission. Other features include power steering, power brakes, and air conditioning.

How would you feel about parking this car in your garage?

  1. Car looks to be in remarkable shape for its age and it’s a nice color. I’d love to park it in my garage. So there really is a place called Paw Paw, Illinois.

  2. …’Nice to see that this is one of the rare ones of that vintage with factory air conditioning.
I’m in my seventies and I wouldn’t mind the automatic tranny at all ~ but I wouldn’t mind if it had a 4-speed, either. ;o)
‘Way back in the early 1970’s… my second Corvette purchase was a new 1974 T-top in “Dark Green” with black leather and A/C … ‘sadly, it had many workmanship and electrical issues that ultimately led to my trading it sooner than I would have otherwise.
