A pursuit of a “person in crisis” driving a C7 Corvette Z06 ended peacefully in New Jersey on Friday afternoon after successful negotiations by police.

Video captured at the scene by Brian Johnston of the Ansbury Park Press shows the driver inside the gray Corvette, talking to authorities before eventually holding his hands outside the lowered window, exiting the car and walking over to a police vehicle where he was interrogated by several officers.

The incident, which started shortly after noon in Tinton Falls, New Jersey, forced all lanes of Route 66 and ramps for the Garden State Parkway to be closed while about 30 local police and state trooper patrol cars secured the scene during the standoff.

Authorities successfully took the man into custody about 12:35 p.m., but details remain unclear about how and why the pursuit began.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office released this statement: “Law enforcement officials were dealing with a situation that involved a person in crisis. The situation came to a peaceful resolution with no injuries and one subject in custody. Investigation is active and ongoing at this time.”
