Once again, the EyesOn Design car show has assembled a first-class group of Corvette personnel as a part of their Father’s Day weekend schedule of events.

The “Clandestined for Speed” symposium will be hosted by Corvette Hall of Famer Werner Meier and feature a panel discussion with Tony DeLorenzo, Burt Greenwood, Alan Barker, Doug Feehan, Herb Fishel, Tom Langdon, Dave McLellan, and Randy Wittine. John McElroy from Autoline Detroit and Autoline Live will moderate this lively panel discussion.

The conversation will cover the roots of Corvette racing, the dark days of the corporate ban on racing, and all the way up to today’s factory-sponsored efforts in IMSA and the WEC.

Given the “Clandestined for Speed” title, you can expect considerable talk about the Automobile Manufacturers Association placing a ban on participation in and promotion of auto racing. You’ll also get to hear how this translated into considerable behind the scenes activity where modified and high-performance parts ended up in the hands of racers for (cough) “testing”.

Here’s the full agenda with speakers:

• Early Corvette Racing History (Werner Meier)
• Early 1960s SCCA B-Production Champion Z-06 (Alan Barker)
• Late 1960s SCCA A-Production Champion L-88 (Tony DeLorenzo, Randy Wittine)
• Early 1970s SCCA, Sebring/Daytona (Burt Greenwood, Tom Langdon)
• 1980s Corvette Challenge, 24 Hr Endurance record (Dave McLellan)
• 1990s R99 CSR Le Mans (Herb Fishel)
• 2000s C-8 (Doug Feehan)
• AMA Ban & Corporate Policy (Fishel)

The “Clandestined for Speed” Corvette Racing symposium will be held Saturday, June 17th at the General Motors Design Dome from 9-11:30am. Tickets are $100 each and you can snag yours by heading over to the EyesOn Design website.

If that’s not enough automotive and racing knowledge for you, then you can head up to Stellantis’ North America Design Center in the afternoon for the Dodge Viper Design Symposium. That event will run from 1:30-4pm. There, moderator Tom Gale will lead a discussion on the history of the Dodge Viper. Panelists will include Ernie Barry, Herb Helbig, Ralph Gilles, Mike Shinedling, and Dick Winkles. Again, check out the EyesOn Design website purchase tickets to this symposium as well.
