[VIDEO] New World Record! Will Farmer Drives a 2023 Corvette Z06 to the Nines!

I was just talking with Steve Garrett on the CORVETTE TODAY Podcast about how chasing these speed record has been great for the hobby as we enthusiasts love to see the challenges, setbacks, and innovations to overcome those obstacles as the Corvette is pushed to its very edge of performance. We saw that with FuelTechUSA chasing the Stingray record and now we have a new fast time with the Z06 as Will Farmer returns to the track in the 2023 Corvette Z06.

At the end of March we featured Will Farmer and a Torch Red 2023 Corvette Z06. He had set two world record runs as he ran the first with drag tires and the second with the stock Michelins. The fastest time being the 10.16 at 135.73 mph with the drag tires.

On Friday evening, a new video was uploaded to YouTube showing Will Farmer back at the track and during an evening run he cracks the nine second barrier with a blistering quarter mile time of 9.98 seconds at 135.50 mph!

The car is wearing the racing slicks for the run and we also note that the course appears to be highly prepped. In fact, you can hear just how sticky the track is as Farmer maneuvers the Z06 to the timing box and prepares to launch the car.

Prior to the launch, Will Farmer is sitting in the cockpit when 377ndacut walks up to him and asks him if he’s going for the record. Farmer says “We hold the record, we are just trying to get in the nines.”

Following the run, 377ndacut asks Farmer about the car, which is on the trailer behind him. “This is a new Rick Hendrick Chevrolet Buick GMC C8 Z06. 331 cubic inches in this little guy, 670 horsepower of normally aspirated…and it just flies!”
