[VIDEO] New World Record at Drag Strip for a Stock Motor 2023 Corvette Z06

We are back at the drag strip today with Corvette Z06 owner Jesse Iwuji, who’s a part-time NASCAR Xfinity Series driver and an officer in the United States Naval Reserves. We caught up with him as he was racing on a 1/8th track not too long ago, and now he is at Formoso Raceway and he continues digging into the secrets of his stock motor Z06 as he attempts to find the right settings for the perfect launch.

The C8 Z06s launch control is much more complex than the one found on the Stingray, and we have seen new owners struggle as they work to find the perfect combination of RPM vs Transmission Slip.

Jesse would probably count this as one of the best days yet with his Z06, and he claims the stock motor Z06 Quarter Mile record at 10.443 @ 134.23 mph. Jessi is running racing slicks instead of the factory wheels but has made no other modifications to the car.

The only C8 Corvette Z06 we’ve seen quicker on the quarter mile is Late Model Racecraft who’s modified 2023 Z06 ran 10.35 @ 131 mph. I’m a bit behind on getting the LMR video up so we’ll have that for you shortly.

FYI, Jesse will be on Brink of Speed’s live Octane Hour at YouTube to discuss the run and share his experience tonight at 8:00 PM ET.

From Jesse Iwuji via YouTube:

After watching LMR do so well with their C8 Z06 modded w/ High Flow cats, I was curious to see how quick a bone stock C8 Z06 with no mods, just drag radials and some sea level type DA on a 55 degree day. Prior to my 1/4 mi day Feb 11th 2023, the quickest & fastest stock C8 Z06 was 10.51 @ 130mph. LMR added high flow cats, picked up 17 RWHP, and went 10.35@131 which was amazing.

Now it was my turn to try the 1/4, except bone stock no exhaust mods. The car did not disappoint! The car actually had multiple 10.4 runs that day and actually also achieved the highest mph in the 1/8 mi of any C8 Z06 on multiple other runs. I’ll share the full video of the Raceday later this week where I share information on what it took to get the right launch control setting set in the car to achieve the best runs.

This car lets you adjust launch RPM between 3500-5000 RPM and slip percentage 5%-15%. I found out that day that slip percentage does not mean tire slip, they have to do with the transmission (super helpful in dialing in the perfect launch). There is not a one size fits all launch setting that works perfectly all the time, it’s all based on how well your track is prep and what your tire combination is to figure out what launch settings are going to work best for you for that day. What settings works for you that day, might not work the next day. It’s kind of fun! Here’s my video:
