Some enthusiasts would argue that the 1967 Corvette is the best ever built.
If that’s the case for you, then you might want to check out this vintage Sting Ray convertible that has been hiding in a Southern California garage for the past 40 years!
After returning it to road-worthy status again over the past few months, the seller has posted the Corvette for sale on eBay, with a “Buy It Now” price of $61,500. Fifty-six people watched the sale over the past 24 hours, which continues until the afternoon of April 8.
Unfortunately, the purists out there will be disappointed to hear that the original engine has been replaced by a non-correct 350 small block, sometime in the 1980s. The transmission is described as a “standard 4 speed,” so we’re not sure if it’s the original one.
The factory original red car shows several chips, nicks, and assorted other blemishes in the paint, but for a driver, it presents well enough, at least from a distance in the collection of photos included with the listing.
The black vinyl interior, likewise, seems to be complete, and while there are signs of wear, for the most part, it again shows well enough to provide a lot of weekend fun for a new owner.
A bright spot is that the car was well equipped when it left the St. Louis factory, including a black vinyl-covered hardtop, AM/FM radio, power windows, and power steering, along with the stock disc brakes at all four corners that offer a definite improvement in stopping power over the drum brakes, for sure.
A new paint job and a freshening of the interior would go a long way toward making this classic Sting Ray a standout on the road. What do you think?
