This weekend we were catching up with some of our friends on YouTube when we caught Rick Conti’s Coffee with Conti video on Sunday. During the episode, Rick had a segment about constraints and production information which included this huge Z06 news.

As you know, Z06 production has been a rollercoaster since the first cars started production last fall. We’ve only had three order cycles for the C8Z with the last one being in January. There was an order cycle scheduled for February that resulted in 0 allocations for the American Supercar, and whether or not we’ll see an order cycle in March is currently debatable. However, it looks like customer orders for the Z06 will soon be coming to an end for the 2023 model year.

During his Coffee with Conti video, Rick shares a recent dealer memo about Z06 production, and he reads the following from his printout:

“Due to overwhelming sold order response for Z06, sold order entries will end on April 5th. All sold order entries for Z06 have to be done by 11:59 pm on April 4th.”

To us, it looks like GM is being cautious about over promising and underdelivering on those expectations, and they certainly don’t want to get into a situation like in 2020 where a massive number of customer orders were required to be rolled over to the new model year, thereby forcing GM to offer price protection to those customers.

Conti also tells us the 2023/2024 dates for model changeover are set for every Chevrolet vehicle except the Corvette, with the end of production and start of production dates showing TBD for the sports car models.

Those of us who closely follow the production of the Corvette have been trying to guess the end of the 2023 model year, and it’s our opinion that we are looking at the July 4th holiday which is when Corvettes had previously changed model years. That time frame seems to fit with GM requiring final Z06 orders to be placed in early April, and those orders would be scheduled for production in late May and June.

Conti also mentions that should there be an April order cycle for the Z06 later in April and dealers get an order allocation, they can still place a Dealer Stock Order for the model year.

As far as current Z06 build numbers go, production has been very good since the week of February 20th when the plant was shut down. Since the restart during the week of February 27th, Chevy has gone on a tear and has built 143 new Z06s. The approximate total so far is 973 regular models and 139 70th Anniversary cars for 1,112 total 2023 Corvette Z06s produced.

So to recap, we now have a hard date for final 2023 Corvette Z06 orders to be submitted, but we don’t have any idea on whether or not dealers will have a final order allocation to submit orders prior to the deadline. It feels like another order cycle is coming, and we’ll just have to stay tuned to see what happens.

  1. Keith- Please correct me if I’m wrong:
    For the 2023 model year:
the Order Guide was released on March 20th.
    Ordering began on April 7th.
    Production began May 16th.

So, according to this report of yours, if 2023 ordering will end on April 5th, 2023,
shouldn’t 2024 production begin May 16th, instead of the July 4th you’re reporting?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. 27,374 is not enough. That number should be closer 40,000 units. Demand is still very high. GM isn’t getting it done like they did in the past.
