[VIDEO] That's One Way to Quiet Your C8 Corvette Stingray on a Cold Start

One of the features coming up on the all new 2024 Corvette E-Ray is Stealth Mode, which Chevy says is perfect for starting up and leaving the neighborhood without waking everyone up. But what to do about the C8 Stingray and its 495-hp start up bark in the mornings?

As we know, the C8 Corvette Stingray’s LT2 V8 sounds great on a cold start and it growls pretty good before the O2 sensors kick in and it becomes quieter. But one owner named Larry Lee came up with a solution for even quieter start-ups that looks straight out of “Pimp My Ride.” We can imagine Xzibit saying, “Yo dogg, I hear you wanted a quieter Corvette, so I put an exhaust system on the exhaust system!

The crazy thing is that they do appear to quiet the car, although Larry should have done the Cold Start first, and then shared what it sounds afterwards with the exhaust suppressors in place.

He says in the comments the set up cost him $400 to create, and if he’s happy with the results (as well as his neighbors), then good for him!

I had to do this… This might be the craziest project I’ve ever done…

  1. So he’s going to leave those ridiculous looking things sticking out of his exhaust until he leaves his neighborhood. What a lame idea. I leave the exhaust on my C7 set on Track mode all the time because I like the sound and I never change it no matter when or where I drive it. I also keep the exhaust valve fuse pulled to keep the baffles open at all RPMs. In my neighborhood there are two loud Harleys, two loud Hemi Rams, a loud Hemi Charger and a loud Hemi Challenger (which are all louder than my C7). Since I have to listen to all that I don’t worry about pissing off my neighbors when I drive my Corvette anytime day or night.

  2. Don’t like the sound of a sports car, then buy a Tesla, I would be ashamed and afraid to show my face if I was ever stupid enough to do something like this, what an idiot!

  3. Obviously an impractical joke, but I applaud his sense of humor. In my case my neighbors surround me with 3 motorcycles, a Cobra replica, a Mustang GT, and a hot rodded truck. They will not complain to me about my C8.

  4. I agree with all of the above comments. What a waste of time and money!
Like Phil says…. Just start it with the door down!
