[VIDEO] Doug DeMuro Reviews the 2024 Corvette E-Ray

YouTube auto reviewer Doug DeMuro visited the new 2024 Corvette E-Ray last week during its L.A. residency at the Petersen Automotive Museum, and he had an opportunity to do one of his patented reviews with the new hybrid performance sports car.

During his discussion on the E-Ray, he described it as “The luxury Z06” as the pricing and performance to the Z06 are similar, and the fact the E-Ray shares many of the Z06’s same components also links the two cars. He’s really on target in describing the car for those who want more performance than the Stingray, as well as the great looks of the widebody Z06.

The hybrid system adds about 300 lbs. to the weight of the car, and yet it’s still the quickest in the lineup. With power on all four wheels, the eAWD system can propel the E-Ray from 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds and 10.5 @ 130 mph in the quarter mile. Doug says that its even faster against the Z06 when its cold as the all-season tires provide capable traction while the performance tires on the Z06 have trouble hooking up.

While it may be quicker off the line than the Z06, it’s designed to be more of a GT cruiser than a track superstar. Doug says:

Despite the speed, despite the power, despite those incredible acceleration times, this car is not intended to be quite as crazy performance car as the Z06 instead it’s supposed to be kinda of a luxury alternative to the Z06. It’s being pitched as more of a GT car than the Z06. For people who want all the power of a Z06 but not necessarily the harsh ride the crazy look the Zo6ness of it all if you still want the performance but something a little softer this is the car.”

Doug goes more into eAWD system and specifically discusses the Charge+ button. That button is on the side of the center console, and it allows you to quickly recharge the battery. Doug says that Charge+ mode is active at speeds above 15 mph and the maximum speed is around 60 mph. When active, you actually feel the drag on the car as it’s generating energy to go back into the battery.
