[VIDEO] FRIDAY FLASHBACK: 2024 Corvette E-Ray on the Nurburgring

Back in July, our spy photographers at the Nurburgring captured the 2024 Corvette E-Ray as Chevy engineers tested three different prototypes at the track. With the E-Ray being in the news after the Visualizer leak, we wanted to go back and see the real thing. Our E-Ray Archives came up with this video from CarSpyMedia showing the E-Rays first laps at the ‘Ring.

Thanks again to Stefan Baldauf at CarSpyMedia for the great video!!

  1. It’ll be interesting to learn how much weight is added to the C8 to accommodate the ERay’s new systems. Also, how the weight bias distribution affects its handling. In the video clips, it appears the drivers are much harder on the brakes prior to the apex entry point; much more so than previous Z06 video clips that seems to be at WOT….
While the Porsche TT AWD 911s are highly track capable, none are as fast as it’s rear-drive GT3 or GT2 RS sisters… I’m assuming the same will hold true with the ERay and Z06… I’m trying hard to think why would an ERay be a better option than say a well equipped Z51 C8…? Guess we’ll soon find out… 😉

  2. It depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for a Track Car. The Z06 is you machine. I believe it will be the same question as to whether you want a Grand Sport of Z06 in the C6 and C7.

The Z06 will have a higher top speed. Even though the AWD component of the ERay will give a you a faster 0-60 time(that is a nod over a Z51). If there are enough twisties on the track…I am sure the exit speeds on the ERay can close the gap…But again. IF what you are looking for is a Track machine…Z06.

The ERay will appeal to those who liked the Grand Sport. Wide Body Looks(which you have to kit for Z51), good ride/drivability, without the cost and top end performance of the Z06. Plus…with the hybrid setup…your city mpg just jumped. And if we are honest. That type of driving is where the Vette will see the most of its time. I also think it will out drive the Z51 on the track..But that is just a guess at this point.

To me the E Ray is more of a Grand Tourer than a Track machine. But one that you can still have a lot of fun on the Track if you choose to go there…
