Corvettes for Sale: No-Reserve 1964 Corvette Sting Ray Convertible on eBay

Five days from now, this 1964 Corvette convertible will belong to a new owner, since it’s currently being offered on eBay at no reserve.

Already, 16 bids have been placed, climbing to $21,880 in the process, and the auction closes Sunday night.

It’s a Sting Ray that needs a complete restoration, but based on the photos with the listing, placed by the owner out of McKinney, Texas, all the parts are pretty much there, including a hardtop.

The body – still wearing part of what could be its original Ermine White paint – will need a few minor repairs before a new coat of paint is applied. The only obvious body modifications done over the past 58 years appears to be molded flares over the wheel wells.

Inside, the original interior is in need of new foam and covers for the seats, along with new carpet, at least, and the instrument panel looks to be restorable where everything seems to be there except the cigarette lighter. Maybe a previous owner was trying to be politically correct and discarded it!

The seller doesn’t provide many details about the car’s history. We are only told that it ran a year ago but doesn’t run now – though “the motor is not froze up,” he says. It’ll need some electrical work, too.

As for the frame, the seller says it’s “very typical of a 58-year-old car,” which we don’t really know how to take. Could it be just surface rust showing in the photos, or is there intensive damage that’s more than skin deep?

Regardless, with only 13,925 convertibles produced at the St. Louis factory for ’64, it would be a shame for this vintage Sting Ray not to be restored to its former glory, wouldn’t it?
