Chevrolet has had a couple good surprises for Z06 enthusiasts this month with the earlier announcement of a new round of allocations coming later this month, and the good news streak continues with this new Regular Production Option that was announced to dealers on Thursday.
The option now allows buyers to now choose between two different colors for the twin intake manifolds for their LT6 engines, with the choices being Black (standard) or Edge Red. The new option code for the “Engine Intake in Red” is BCW.
We did a poll on this back in May of this year, and our readers overwhelmingly selected the Edge Red intake manifolds. Of 830 respondents, 80% want to be able to add an Edge Red intake manifold versus just 11% for Silver, and 9% will stick with the Black.
The Edge Red intake manifold made its in-car debut on the Corvette Z06 Indy 500 Pace Car. Engineers have been coy up to this point if the option was going to be rolled out to customers for the 2023 model year.
Dealers just got this update today, and it could be a few weeks before it shows up on the Build and Price Configurator. We also understand that the BCW “Engine Intake in Red” will be priced at $595, which seems like a great value. The memo also specifies the availability is just for the Coupe model, so you HTC guys might need to work on Harlan to see if this can be offered on convertibles as well. The following change is effective for Corvette Dealers as of today, November 9, 2022:
RPO: (BCW) “Engine Intake in Red” for the 1YH07 Z06 coupe is now available to order in OWB – Quick Order. OWB – Configure A New Vehicle will be updated next Thursday, November 17, 2022, and the Vehicle Order Guide will be updated on Monday, November 21, 2022.

Love the BCW option.👍 Now (if your reading Chevrolet Engineers) how about the RYQ side intake trim in visible Carbon Fiber and the visible Carbon Fiber “X” brace in the engine compartment?
I like it! How about other options like more colored stitching. I would like red with the natural and black interior. Anyone wonder why the style of the blue and black interior is different from the other color combos and the color of the headrest?

That’s cool, but doesn’t look right with Torch Red, so I’m not checking that box. It would be cool if the color options get expanded more (hint hint).
Also agree with the other comment about offering the side intake trim in carbon fiber. I asked Harlan about this during the Bash at the NCM, and was surprised that wasn’t being worked on. So…no visible carbon fiber on the exterior is getting checked on my order either.
Yeah yeah, this is all whiney little stuff. Can’t wait to move up in line enough to really start checking boxes.
