We told you back in August how a Chevrolet paint vendor’s plant in East St. Louis, Illinois exploded and caught fire, damaging the facility and injuring two workers. That plant manufactures the high-temp-resistant Edge Red paint for the Chevrolet, which is found on the Stingray’s LT2 engine cover and the brake calipers for the Stingray and Z06.
As Edge Red calipers were part of this year’s special edition 70th Anniversary package, Chevrolet scrambled to offer Bright Red calipers in their place.
Well, we got some great news today from Chevrolet saying that Edge Red is back and the calipers and engine covers can be ordered either as a stand-alone option or with the 70th Anniversary Packages, where they will automatically be included with those builds. Here is part of that memo sent to dealers:
The following changes are effective for Corvette Dealers as of today, October 12, 2022:
• RPO: (J6N) Edge Red Calipers are now included in (Y70) Anniversary Special Edition Corvette.
• RPO: (J6F) Bright Red Caliper will remain available.
• RPO: (J6N) Edge Red Calipers are available without (Y70) Anniversary Edition.
• LPO: (RCC) Edge Red Engine Cover is now Included on the 1YC07 &3LT Stingray coupe with RPO: (Y70) Anniversary Edition.
• LPO: (RCC) Edge Red Engine Cover is also available without (Y70) Anniversary Edition (available on 1YC07 &1LT/2LT/3LT coupe models).
