I’ll admit I don’t know a lot about R&B and alt-pop singer Teyana Taylor and NBA free agent Iman Shumpert.
But even an old-timer like me can appreciate their love story when it includes a vintage Corvette.
As the couple recently celebrated six years of marriage, Iman decided that gifting his wife a white 1979 Corvette would be a good way to symbolize their relationship. Here’s what he had to say about the occasion on an Instagram post that also includes a video of his lovely wife behind the wheel of her beautifully restored old-school Corvette:

“Men love the stories, the headaches and the delicacies you have to put into refurbishing an old school because once it’s done and back on the road you can truly appreciate the time and the times you have in it. It makes a statement to your inner self that no one could see this but you!
“Years ago I told you I wanted a family and you gave me that. I bent my knee to you and you accepted my headache and trauma. You’ve pumped my brakes and fixed me up every time I had bump or bruise.
“So yes, I could’ve gotten you a brand new car…but this car will symbolize a relationship that’s been thru it all. The nostalgia of the Corvette you wanted is heard but I want you to dress this one up little by little like we’ve done in this 6 years and make sure this m—-cka ride forever!
“I love you Mrs Shumpert.
“Year 6.”
Drafted in 2011, Shumpert has not played in the NBA following a short stint with the Brooklyn Nets, but he was in the news last year when he and partner Danielle Karagach took home the Mirror Ball trophy after winning the Season 30 Dancing with the Stars title, the first NBA player to do so.
Happy Anniversary to Teyana and Iman, and we wish for them to enjoy many happy days in that vintage Corvette!
