Corvettes for Sale: 1969 Corvette 427 Unpacked from a Shipping Container

You never know what you’re going to find in a shipping container.

Witness this one that housed a partially disassembled 1969 Corvette convertible for an unknown number of years, though if dust levels are any indication, it had been in there for awhile.

Now, someone has used a can opener and removed the contents, and the partially restored car is up for sale on Facebook Marketplace for $22,500 out of the Medford, New York area.

We think that’s pretty steep for a car that’s been customized with an aftermarket one-piece front end that eliminated the attractive chrome bumpers and moved the headlights to the front grille. By the way, is it just me, or is that hood so tall that it’d be a real nuisance driving it?

On the other hand, this Stingray does have a nice color combo, with Fathom Green paint and a saddle interior that both appear to be in good shape now. (Personally, we might be more interested in the blue Pontiac shown in the background.)

The best news is that the car includes a 427 engine hooked to a Muncie four-speed manual transmission, though we couldn’t get a look at it to see which variant it is (likely either a 435 horsepower L71 or a 400 horsepower L68 or a 390 horsepower L36) and what kind of condition it’s in. It could be the Holy Grail L88 427/430, but not for the asking price.

We couldn’t gain access to the Facebook listing, but our friends at Barn Finds explain that the original tank sheet is included with the car, which documents that it was outfitted with a black top, Positraction, and the aforementioned drivetrain combination from the St. Louis factory.

Would you want this “sardine” Corvette in your garage, or would you just put it back in the container for a few more years?
