[PICS] President Joe Biden Starts Up the 2023 Corvette Z06 at the Detroit Auto Show


President Joe Biden was in Detroit today for a tour of the Detroit Auto Show and he also took the opportunity to check out the 2023 Corvette Z06 with General Motors CEO Mary Barra and GM President Mark Reuss watching on.

The Z06 on the turntable display was finished in Amplify Orange and was equipped with the Z07 package with the optional visible carbon fiber wheels.

A video from WXYZ-TV shows the President walking up behind the Z06 and then around to the passenger side. He pauses to say, “Get out of the way, everybody…this thing flies,” as Mary points out the visible carbon fiber wheels on the car (which saves 41 pounds of unsprung weight).

At this point, the President then reaches under the side-intake for the door release and climbs in the car, and we catch Mary saying, “you can even start the car,” as she leans in and points to the “Push to Start” button.

“I’ll tell you what,” says the President and he continues, “tell my secret service detail…I’m driving home.”

Biden toured other displays at the show and quipped again about the Corvette when checking out the Cadillac Lyric EV SUV. “Jump in, I’ll give you a ride to Washington,” he joked to reporters. “It’s a beautiful car,” he added, “But I love the Corvette.”

The President has famously owned a Goodwood Green 1967 Corvette Sting Ray Convertible, which was a wedding present from his father.
