Let Zip Corvette Help You Breathe New Life Into Your C5 Corvette

Looking for a DIY project this summer for your C5 Corvette? Zip Corvette recommends some much needed under hood restoration.

Over time, your C5 air dam and accompanying rubber seals can become worn and broken – or even go missing completely! The result is hindered cooling airflow, vulnerability to the elements and a greater possibility of an overheated engine.

The good news is that with a few basic hand tools, a plastic scraper and a few hours of work, you can breathe new life under the hood of your 1997-2004 Corvette!

Check out Zip’s new technical article “1997-2004 Corvette Front Air Dam, Hood Seals and Hood Bumper Replacement” for step-by-step instructions – including pictures- on how to restore your Corvette’s under hood to optimal function.

C5 Corvette Air Dam While the air dam on this Z06 has seen its better days it’s still, basically intact. That said, we’ve also seen C5s missing entire sections of the front air dam. If parts of your C5’s air dam are worn, broken or missing, Zip Corvette stocks individual replacement parts.

While you’re there, Zip will also show you how to replace damaged or hardened hood bumper caps. As always, it’s a good idea to have a shop manual for your particular Corvette year nearby while you work on any DIY project.
