[PICS] Will the Z06s With High Wings be Installed at the Factory and Shipped Under Covers?

This is very good news on many fronts if it’s true, but already I am seeing some knowledgeable people disputing this.

High Wings for the C8 Stingrays are installed during PDI at dealerships and it requires pulling off the rear fascia to install. Unfortunately, there have been instances of the paint surrounding the mounting points being damaged during the removal of the Z51 spoiler, not to mention that base Stingrays required the dealer techs to drill their own holes. The process puts more work on dealership technicians and it adds to the waiting time for the customer who just wants to take delivery and enjoy the new car.

Corvette Forum’s Agent Provocateur Corvette_Nut offered up these photos last night showing a fully covered 2023 Z06 with the Z07 Performance Package (highlighted by the high wing and carbon fiber wheels). It’s the first time we’ve seen a fully covered Z06 shipped from the factory and many of us believe we may be finally seeing the first official pre-production CTFs? As far as I know, we haven’t seen an actual pre-production Z06 with a saleable VIN and previously CTF sightings appear to show EX VINs. Again, if you folks come across one of these cars in the next few weeks, please capture the VIN so we know for sure!

The original poster of the photos is Instagram user hot_lt1 who captured the Z06 at Detroit’s Serra Chevrolet of Southfield. Take note in the pictures that show the transportation covers can be fitted for both domestic Z06s with the quad-center exhaust while there are cutouts for those Z06 models with the corner-mounted export exhausts.

We’ve previously seen some test cars driving around Detroit with only the two mounting points exposed (as we joked about the Z07 high wing already on constraint). It was at the Bash that we learned that the Z07 High Wing is installable without removing the rear facia and in fact, it takes just eight Torx bolts to lock it down onto the rear of the car. With the PDI process now much simpler for the addition of the rear wing, our earlier reasons drawing from the Stingray experience appear to no longer an issue.

These pics from “Marcho Polo” on the MidEngineCorvetteForum.com show the Z07 spoiler on the cutaway display and you can see how the mounting points extend above the fascia and the screw positions on the stanchions.

We now have so many questions after seeing these photos and I am sure we’ll hear more about the shipping processes for the Z06 once we are closer to the cars starting production later this summer.

  1. As long as they strap that Nun down it will be ok, shouldn’t fly away. One of the dumbest wings ever from GM Almost as bad as the 1979 GTO Judge

  2. The ugliest wing ever created on any GM car hands down! How did make it through the approval process to begin with?

  3. You guys must be seeing something I don’t. The Z07 package and high wing is what is coming on my Z06 and I think it looks great.
