According to a memo from Chevrolet to dealers late this week, the 2022 Corvette model year will be wrapped during the week of May 9th and the 2023 Corvette model year will start the week of May 16th. This comes from our friend Rick Conti who detailed the ongoing constraints for May’s Corvette orders.

Chevy issued the advance report to dealers to help them get ready for next week’s order cycle. As we’ve seen over the last couple of cycles, quantities for Magnetic Selective Ride Control continue to be in short supply. While there are some limited quantities out there, Conti says there is 0% availability on any non-Z51 Corvette with Magnetic Selective Ride Control.

What came as a surprise was the next constraint. With the 2023 Corvette Stingray starting production the week of May 16th, we expected to see the 70th Anniversary Editions begin production immediately. Conti tells us the exclusive Q9A 70th Anniversary Wheel with the Red Stripe for the special edition package is 0% available. This is a short term constraint he says, but how short we just don’t know.

As we said on Monday, production restarted at the assembly plant and this week they have averaged approximately 173 Corvettes per day (Mon-Thurs) and we estimate they will be close to the VIN 23,561 when the 2nd shift ends later this evening. That leaves two full weeks in which we should surpass 25000 VINs for the 2022 model year. During the Bash, Chevy showed us two different quantities that their stats were based on. The 2022 Stingray Color chart showed 25,991 total while the 2022 Color and Trim breakdown reads 25,831. Chevy does count pre-production CTF cars in these quantities as well.

  1. More BS from GM, what the hell people?? Someone needs to be fired or replaced. Chevrolet is becoming an embarrassment.

  2. Whole country is in constraint. Biden economy is a joke. It’s only taken him 15 months to trash this country

  3. Chris, we never had issues with delays and shortages like this before Biden came on the scene. It’s been happening for the last 15 months. The math doesn’t lie.

  4. Any update on this?

My 2023 C8 Anniversary order was picked up in April. I’ve been sitting at 3000 status for a lifetime.

How can a paint color for the wheel be constrained?
