Check out this bodacious 1966 Corvette captured running through a GoodGuys Autocross course last year.

We saw this photo posted yesterday in the C1/C2 section of the Corvette Forum from a member named “lakebumm” whose real name Bill Graves Sr. Bill’s post said “Not meaning to brag, but we were able to win the 2021 Good Guys Rod and Custom Street Machine Autocross Championship this past year with my 66 convert.

It ain’t bragging if it’s true, Bill!

Bill shared a link to this article on FuelCurve.com featuring the Five 2021 GoodGuys CPP Autocross Series Champions and Bill’s 1966 Corvette is one of three 1963-1967 Corvettes to bring home a class championship in the nationwide event.

Bill’s 1966 Corvette Sting Ray Convertible street machine is powered by an LS3 V8 engine and he runs a modified stock suspension and Forgeline wheels. Over the course of 11 events (12 according to him in the CF post), Bill racked up 176 total points! GoodGuys incorporates the racer’s top five best finishes, plus shootout points at the end of the season, and with the final tally counted, Bill finished with 90 total points to bring home the Championship in the Forgeline Street Machine Class by an incredible 35 points over the second-place finisher.

In his CorvetteForum.com post, Bill says he and his wife Marti ran 12 events last year while “seeing some beautiful sights while traveling all over this great country of ours.” Now he is getting ready to do all again this season as he attempts to defend his championship.

Winning the PRO-X class in the 2021 Goodguys CPP Autocross Series was Josh Leisinger of Sioux Falls, SD, who competed with his lightweight 1964 Corvette Coupe. The car is based on a Cale Kern-built Chromoly tube chassis with power coming from a built LSX engine from Warren Johnson Racing:

In the PRO class, Ron Scott, JR of Troutville, VA took home the championship in a Frost White 1963 Corvette Coupe. Ron competed in six events over the course of 2021 and claimed the PRO shootout in two of them. The Sting Ray is equipped with LS power and a Ridetech suspension.

It’s pretty cool to see three mid-year Corvettes at the top of their respective classes at the Goodguys CPP Autocross Series. Congratulations to all the competitors and good luck in 2022!
