Corvette is getting ready to celebrate its 70th anniversary with two special colors for the 2023 model year.
But if you’d like to time travel back to the 50th anniversary of America’s Sports Car, you’d be hard-pressed to find a nicer example of the special edition offered in 2003 than this low-mileage convertible being offered on Bring a Trailer.
The golden anniversary of the Corvette, of course, was celebrated with a special edition coated in 50th Anniversary Red paint over a beautiful two-tone shale leather interior. Commemorative badging on the fenders, along with headrests and floor mats embroidered with “50th Anniversary” logos and champagne-finished wheels inside 245/45 and 275/40 Goodyear Eagle F1 tires, helped complete the look.
This car, which has a nicely contrasting tan soft top, has traveled less than 11,000 miles over the past 20 years and remains in showroom condition inside, outside, and underneath, and best of all, it has a six-speed manual transmission hooked to an LS1 5.7-liter V8 engine rated at 350 horsepower.
Other equipment includes Magnetic Selective Ride Control, auto-dimming mirrors, power-adjustable seats with driver’s memory settings, head-up display, automatic headlights, power-telescoping steering column, cruise control, automatic climate control, alloy wheels, and Delco CD stereo with Bose speakers.
Sold new in Wisconsin, this Corvette eventually traveled to Utah when the seller purchased it in 2015. He’s said to have added just 2,000 miles to the odometer and most recently changed the oil last summer.
The most interesting things about this Corvette in our eyes actually don’t relate to it. In the background of the photos is a blue chrome-bumper C3 convertible that left us salivating, and then we absolutely love the very nice lift in the owner’s garage where the 2003 is shown resting onboard. We don’t know the seller, but anyone who has a beautiful early C3 and a lift to work on his vehicles is OK in our book!
With six days left in the auction, the high bid has risen to $21,500. Where do you see that figure settling?
