General Motors released their final Q4 2021 sales report on Tuesday and it shows a total of 8,293 new Corvettes were delivered during the quarter. It’s a decline of 7.8% over the 4th quarter sales numbers a year ago that showed 8,992 Corvettes sold during the same time period in 2020.

For the 2021 calendar year, Chevrolet delivered a total of 33,041 Corvettes which was 52.8% higher than 2020. That was the highest calendar year production total since 2015 and the first year of combined C7 Stingray and Z06 sales. When you look at our Corvette sales archive below, you’ll see 2021’s calendar year total is the 5th highest year of Corvette production since we started keeping track in 2006.

GM’s 4th quarter Corvette sales were both impacted by a 2nd shift shutdown in Oct/Nov due to supply chain issues and of course the six days of production missed following the tornado strike on December 11th. The Assembly Plant was officially closed during the final week of 2021 for the annual holiday break.

Our Corvette Sales Archives will be updated in April 2022 with the release of GM’s official 1st Quarter 2022 sales numbers.

From the official sales release:

DETROIT — General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM) and its dealers delivered 2.2 million vehicles in 2021, with Chevrolet and GMC cementing the company’s eighth consecutive year of combined full-size and midsize pickup sales leadership, second consecutive year as the full-size pickup sales leader and its 21st consecutive year as the market leader in full-size SUVs.

In addition, Cadillac Escalade deliveries rose 65 percent versus 2020 and a bevy of new and redesigned models helped drive Buick sales to the highest level since 2019. GM’s commercial truck business registered gains in key areas, including Chevrolet Silverado Medium Duty sales, which were up 39 percent. GM’s total sales were down about 13 percent year over year because of semiconductor supply chain issues.

“All year we focused on delivering as many of our high demand, capacity-constrained products as possible and the strategy worked,” said Steve Carlisle, GM executive vice president and president, GM North America. “Our dealers and our engineering, supply chain, manufacturing and brand teams moved mountains to satisfy as many customers as possible in 2021, despite record low inventories caused by semiconductor supply chain issues during the third and fourth quarters.”

Chevrolet Corvette sales were up 53 percent, for the supercar’s best annual sales since 2015.
