Now that Third Quarter has officially come to an end, General Motors has released its latest sales report and it shows Corvette sales surging with 6,355 Corvettes delivered during the time period. This is a 33.3% increase over the 4,766 Corvettes delivered during July-September 2019. For the 2020 year to date sales, a total of 12,634 Corvettes have been delivered. Due to the COVID shutdowns earlier in the year, we are seeing a 12.9% decrease from the 14,497 sold during the same time last year.
Of course it’s no surprise that we are seeing a surge in deliveries as the 2020 Corvette is a sell-out with every car spoken for and owners are taking delivery as soon as they reach the dealership. Now with the second shift in play, we should see another significant jump in the numbers come 4th Quarter.
Production of new Corvettes is still going strong with over 800 Corvettes being produced weekly. This continues to be a bright spot for the Corvette Team as it appears the supply line has remained largely intact. With just three months to go before the end of the year, it will be interesting to see how the Corvette team accomplishes its goal of 20,181 Corvettes produced for the model year as it’s possible that 2020s may have to be extended into December.
Speaking of 2021s, we are betting that dealers get their allocations sometime this month, and then the first orders can be submitted to GM. As soon as we have an official date on this we’ll let you know.
And finally, for the first time in a long while, there are no current sales incentives for the Corvette and it will probably be a few years before they return.
Our Corvette Sales Archives will be updated in January 2021 with the release of GM’s official 4th Quarter sales numbers.

From the official sales release:
DETROIT — General Motors (NYSE: GM) announced today that it delivered 665,192 vehicles in the third quarter of 2020, a decrease in total vehicle sales of about 10 percent compared to a year ago. In a sign of a recovering industry, sales improved sequentially each month within the quarter. Industry and GM sales rebounded significantly in September, finishing the month with year-over-year sales increases. Total industry SAAR1 was an estimated 15.9 million vehicles for the quarter, up about 4 million units from the previous quarter.
GM’s mid-size SUVs outperformed the industry, including the Chevrolet Blazer up 45 percent – its best quarter ever – and the Cadillac XT6, also up 45 percent compared to the third quarter of last year. Buick’s compact SUV, the Envision, was up 44 percent. In addition to Cadillac having a full lineup of crossovers available, the CT4 and CT5 sedans continue to grow share in crowded segments, with CT4’s average transaction price outperforming its segment average, according to J.D. Power.
“Our dealers are doing exceptionally well utilizing a combination of customer-facing online technologies – such as Shop. Click. Drive. – and showroom sales to deliver vehicles safely to our customers. This is contributing to retail share gains while we continue to refill the pipeline,” said Kurt McNeil, GM vice president, U.S. Sales Operations. “Industry-wide, dealers are selling a high mix of large pickups as the summer comes to an end. Our strong large pickup and all-new full-size SUV lineups from Chevrolet and GMC are selling extremely fast.”

12,634 means many people still don’t own the C8 that they paid for! It will be an interesting 3 months to say the least.
Paid for? Um, put a deposit on, hopefully. Never pay for something until it’s in your possession. Yikes, do people actually do that?
In the past you have posted numbers of units sold/delivered by the various dealers nationwide. I would love to see those figures again.
The article also fails to mention the 7-week GM strike that pushed the start of production from December 2019 to February 2020 so they could finish out the MY 2019 orders.
Keep cranking those babies out! The speculators(private party and Chevy dealers) are running out of time to gouge buyers! By the 2022 or 2023 model I should have room in the garage for a Stingray on sale.
Duane Hicks, yes. And it’s called having money.
ONLY 7600 TO GO to reach 20,181……STILL AT 3000 status as of 10/04/2020
