How Much Would You Have Paid for This 1963 Corvette Project on Craigslist?

Chevy only made 10,919 convertibles in 1963, the first year of the legendary C2 generation, so anytime one comes on the market, it attracts attention.

This partially restored Sting Ray that was recently being advertised on Craigslist out of Nevada at the asking price of $20,000 has apparently already gobbled up someone’s attention. When we checked this morning, the listing had already been deleted, but not before we were able to take one more look at it on Barn Finds.

While the car didn’t have much curb appeal, all the panels were in place getting ready for a new paint job. The chrome bumpers are still on the car, though the faux chrome grilles in the hood have been removed for body work and appear to be resting between the seats awaiting re-installation. The hubcaps are also piled in the passenger seat, so that saves an expensive search for originals. (We’re not a strict purist, though, and have always preferred the more sporty look of aftermarket wheels on C2s. But that’s a matter of personal taste.)

As for the interior, the photos are not of very high quality, but most of the pieces appear to be in place, including the instrumentation and glovebox door, so at least it’s not a total rebuild there.

No word on whether the original drivetrain is in place, but it appears to be a 327/250 horsepower base engine or the 327/300 horsepower upgrade resting under the hood.

While this car will likely be an expensive project for a new owner, the end result will be well worth it. There are few things in life more beautiful than a shiny restored Mid Year C2, after all.
