[PIC] Miss Seeing Your Engine in the C8 Corvette Convertible? Here is an idea...

One of the trade-offs of buying the C8 Corvette Convertible over the Coupe is that you can’t view that lovely LT2 engine that resides under glass. We know some have been exploring alternative means to be able to see the LT2 in the HTC, such as a glass window or other viewport that shows the V8, but that seems like a lot of effort to capture a glimpse of the engine as the top is raised or lowered.

So we caught this pic over on the MidEngineCorvetteForum.com showing a low-tech way to view a completely dressed LT2 engine while raising or lowering the top on the convertible. The post comes from vossenator who offered this solution:

Are you missing the view of your engine in your HTC version of the C8 Stingray? Then why don’t you do what this owner did. Had a friend who is a photographer take the picture and found someone that made a graphic image of the photo. He then mounted the graphic over the engine cover and voila! When he drops the top you can see the image of the engine. Comments?

We’ll that’s one way to start the conversation at your local cars and coffee by telling folks you have the world’s first C8 Corvette Convertible with the LT2 viewable when the top and lowered and raised. They’ll only have about 16-seconds to see it and it’s sure to get a few laughs at the same time.

  1. Not true at all about only seeing it for 16 seconds! When I show my HTC, the top is partially folded, the tonneau is fully extended so the “engine” could be seen! I wish he “paid” extra and got the carbon fiber engine package!

  2. If you’re going all out with a picture, why not upgrade to a twin turbo? The price should be the same +/- $1.00.

*Postage and handling not included. Some assembly required.

  3. Picture of an engine, HA, should have posted a V12 FERRARI with 6 Webers!! I bought a 2020 Coupe so I don’t have to FAKE my engine as it’s there rear window hatch open or not!! Of course , the top does not open as easy, but I can’t wear a hat in a convertible any more anyway. I have a friend that did the same thing with a picture here in Ohio!! dt Ohio

  4. It’s a shame that you can’t see the LT2 in the convertible version of the Stingray because it looks good. Unfortunately many manufacturers do that as well. The whole engine is enclosed in a compartment and no panels can even be opened to view it.

  5. Hummm this would appeal to the same folks that has pumped in recorded engine noise, from the stereo, in the cabin.
