Optional 5DG Pewter Wheel is Going Away for the 2022 Corvette Model Year

Yesterday’s drop of the 2022 Corvette Order Guide had us checking out all the new options for the model year which includes the three new colors, a special edition, a new low-profile spoiler.

But wait, there’s more! Hidden in the Order Guide were two new dealer-installed options that showed the Corvette Stingray would finally be getting an optional visible carbon fiber High Wing and boomerang trim

And while Chevrolet loves to give us new content every year, sometimes the options gods take something away. In addition to the three colors that were phased out at the end of the 2021 model year, we have learned that Chevrolet will no longer be offering the 5DG Pewter-Painted aluminum wheel option for the ’22 model year.

The 5-Open-Spoke Wheels finished in Pewter was offered as a dealer-installed LPO option that carried a $2,695 price tag. We always thought the color blended exceptionally well with the Zeus Bronze exterior and even with Zeus Bronze going away, it seems like it was still a good match for its replacement, Caffeine Metallic.

Unfortunately, the Pewter aluminum wheels weren’t big sellers as only 89 Corvettes featured the wheels during the 2020 model year, which accounted for just 0.4% of all 2020 Corvettes.

  1. Never seen those wheels before! They kind of remind of the C5 magnesium wheel option. Also the champagne wheels from the ’03 C5 50th anniversary edition Corvette. Not bad looking, just something different.
