The Philadelphia Concours d'Elegance to Celebrate Corvette, 'America's Sportscar'

After a one-year hiatus due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Philadelphia Concours d’ Elegance returns this year in a big way. The theme for the show’s 4th installment will be Corvette – “America’s Sportscar” for the July 19th event to be held at the renowned Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum.

“We are thrilled to be celebrating America’s most iconic sports car with such a rich racing history at this year’s Philadelphia Concours d’ Elegance,” said Michael Tillson III, president and director of Cool Cars for Kids, and one of the country’s most highly regarded authorities on classic and sports automobiles. “Attendees of the Concours will not only have a chance to get an up-close look of many historic and legendary examples of the Corvette’s heritage, but also see other classic cars from the Simeone Collection.”

Cool Cars for Kids, Inc. (CCfK) will host the event which benefits the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Proceeds will go to support children with rare genetic diagnoses, their families, and will also support research to identify the best potential future treatments.

The 2021 selection of classes includes: Pre-War, Post-War, Open, Closed, Sports, Muscle, and Kids Choice.

An early morning Rally Across America tour leading to the Simeone Museum will kickstart the day. Later there will be a panel discussion featuring past Corvette racers, current owners of select iconic Corvettes, and others deeply rooted the Corvette hobby. The current list of panelists includes Corvette racing legend Tony DeLorenzo and George Wintersteen – driver of Grand Sport #002 which currently resides at the Simeon Museum. Historian Harry Hurst will lead the discussion. Additional panelists will be announced at a later date.

Other attractions include kid-centric activities, special celebrity guests including Super Bowl-winning Coach Dick Vermeil, a separate Car Corral for local car enthusiasts to display their rides, delicious food, specialty vendors, and access to the Simeone Museum itself.
