If you’re a Corvette enthusiast and also happen to be a big fan of actors Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, you’ll be thrilled to know that one of the dozen Corvette Grand Sport replicas built for the fifth installment of the “Fast and Furious” series is being sold next month.

When the studio was getting ready to film the “Fast Five” movie, they decided they wanted to use a Grand Sport as a co-star to Diesel and Walker. Seeing as how only five such 1963 Corvettes exist, producers couldn’t afford the millions necessary to buy the real thing.

Instead, they got Mongoose Motorsports, a GM licensed manufacturer, to build 12 Grand Sport replicas for various stunts and other uses. If you’ve seen the movie, then you know why only three of those cars wound up surviving the filming.

Now, the nicest of those three survivors – and the one that actually spent the most time with its famous human co-stars – is up for auction online at no reserve April 14-21 at VoloCars.com. “We simply have more items than space to display them,” Volo says. “Our loss is your gain!”

That doesn’t mean this Corvette will be inexpensive. Activity is likely to be brisk, with the car expected to fetch more than $100,000.

Fortunately, this replica, which is titled as a 1966 Corvette, didn’t suffer the abuse its brethren did. It was used as a green-screen car, mounted on a special rig in front of a green screen while actors were filmed in it.

It also features a full custom tubular chassis with C4 suspension, GM performance crate 350 engine with 380 horsepower, an automatic transmission, and 17-inch PS Engineering wheels. We think the finished product is one beautiful Corvette!

According to volocars.com, this car was not used for any stunt work and remains “as pristine as the day it was built.” In addition, it also is the replica that spent the most time with Diesel and Walker.

After the movie was finished, the transportation coordinator for the studio liked the car so much that he bought it for his own personal car collection, and Volo Auto Sales then bought it directly from him.

In case you’d like to have your own Grand Sport copy, Mongoose Motorsports offers replicas for sale to the public starting at $85,000 minus the engine and transmission. Visit Mongoose Motorsports to find out more about the Fast 5 Movie Car.
