Are you contemplating Red Mist Metallic as your color of choice on the 2021 Corvette? If so, you’ll want to check out this video from CorvetteBlogger contributor Jeremy Welborn who happens to be in Bowling Green this week, and he captured a pre-production 2021 Corvette Z51 Coupe on video.

Jeremy tells us the weather conditions weren’t the greatest on this fall Kentucky day, yet the sun managed to come out just as Jeremy began his walk-around of the Red Mist Stingray. As you can see, the Red Mist exterior really comes alive under the sun and that is thanks to the tiny metallic flakes in the finish.

We think this color really lends itself well to the new 2021 Corvette Stingray and can’t wait to see it for ourselves in person. Until then, thanks Jeremy for offering up this great look at one of Corvette’s two new exterior colors for the new model year.

What are your thoughts on the new color? Let us know in the comments below!

  1. No sir, still do not like the color and I want to like it as I still have time to change my 2021 order. My opinion is if they just added a pearl metallic to torch red, it would be perfect in my eyes and look good on a cloudy day, and at night as well as in the sun. This video is not in bright sunlight and the color is dead on a cloudy day imo.

  2. I like the Torch Red color better I see from the website pictures but would purchase the Mist Red color. I’m on two lists to purchase a 2021 convertible and hope my name comes before 2022. My color will be Mist Red or Blade Silver if I get to where i can actually place my order, both are great colors.

  3. Back in the 70s I painted my car red metal flake with a heavy clear coat. The sun would blind you the flakes where so intense. The only issue, on a cloudy day I hated the color. Need to see it in person to check out the lines of the car. Color makes or breaks on how you look at it.

  4. I saw it in person a few weeks ago at a Corvette show in Beaumont, TX. It is spectacular, especially in bright sunlight! Reminds me a little of the classic “candy apple red,” but better. The video is good, but you really have to see it in person….just awesome!!

  5. I’m not a fan at this point. Maybe some chrome or bright wheels will make it “pop” but with the black wheels and black accents it comes off a little underwhelming.

  6. Was going to order Long Beach Red. But when they switched to to Red Mist, I switched to Shadow Grey. I agree with Don, it is too much like Torch Red with a little bit of a darker tint. Also, I am not a fan of black wheels. I ordered the gray and machined trident wheels. They look gorgeous.

  7. I too, wanted the Long Beach Red ext. and think this has too much orange in the tint. As a conservative person, the darker red is more desirable. I like the tan (& black) interior and think this red may not coordinate with my preferred int. color scheme.

  8. Love it! Have a HTC Red Mist on order for 2021. Went down to the museum for the paint reveal! It’s fabulous in person! Can’t wait to pick this sweet ride up! Already have our plates. HIS-C8. Since we already have HER-427 on a 2013 anniversary edition.

  9. I really wanted to like it but it just looks like dark red. the original gm picture of it was fantastic but that was the only one.

  10. I saw it in person at a Corvette show in Beaumont, TX, a few weeks ago, and it looks spectacular! In bright sunlight it is even more striking! It reminds me a little of the classic “candy apple red,” and it is awesome! The photos and videos just don’t capture the color.

  11. I now have a c7 torch red,but I ordered a c8 in red mist .I hope I like it because this will be my last Corvette. It’s not because I don’t want more but my age is creeping up on me.

  12. Nice color, just not for me. I originally had this on my short list, but now going with the Ceramic Gray Matrix. I do not like the black rims at all. GM really missed the mark on those. I think the way they machined the outer edge looks horrible. It’s just not a clean look at all. Shame too, because black rims look good with some colors.

  13. I have a 2016 Long Beach Red and I get comments on the car almost every time I take it out. It is beautiful. The Red Mist is too close to Torch Red in my opinion and does not look as good as the deeper red in Long Beach Red. To each his own.

  14. GM should have kept Long Beach Red for one more year to appease the people that ordered a 2020 in Long Beach Red, and got pushed to a 2021, where it will be unavailable. Very very bad business decision by GM.

  15. I have a deposit on a 2021 convertible, and the reason I still like torch red better is because the red interior option (adrenaline red, I think) goes very well with the torch red exterior. That same red interior option would unfortunately clash with this new red mist exterior. I haven’t heard anyone say that they would go good together.

  16. They just picked up my order of Mist Red but I’m not sure if I should go with edge red calipers or yellow. Has anyone seen the color of the red edge with the red mist? Would they go together ?
